CSA stands for Community
                                                        Supported Agriculture.  It truly
                                                        is a community that forms
around a farm and the produce
it bears.  People buy shares of
the harvest in the winter and
then, when harvesting begins in the summer, members come to the farm every week to pick up a variety of what is being harvested that week.  It is a great way to be connected to the land where your food is grown and the person, or people, who grow it.  Additionally, members enjoy the community they gain through meeting other members.
Every year is unique.  Being part of a CSA brings you closer to the physical place where you live and the cycles of the weather and seasons; you are eating the foods that grow best in your place and season.  Every year there are abundances of some crops, and less abundance of other crops.  The wide variety of crops planted ensures good harvests.  Part of the fun of CSA is enjoying the surprise of the weather and crop variation and coming up with new ways to plan your meals; around what is in season and growing well right then.
